Jazzy was a sweet 24-year-old mare who came to Iron Range Equine Sanctuary alongside her companion, Roxy. From the time we got to know her, Jazzy showed us the gentle, kind demeanor that made her so special. She had a quiet presence about her and a softness that made her a treasured member of our herd.
Jazzy lived with severe heaves, a chronic respiratory condition that required ongoing care and consideration. Despite the challenges of her condition, she remained her gentle self. Caring for Jazzy meant understanding her needs, providing a calm environment, and doing everything we could to keep her comfortable. Her condition was a part of her daily life, but it never defined who she was.
At IRES, Jazzy was given the opportunity to live in an environment where her needs were understood and her comfort came first. We are grateful she had a place where she could be cared for with patience, kindness, and compassion.
Saying goodbye to Jazzy was heartbreaking. Making the decision to let her go is never easy, especially when a horse has found a place in your heart. We take comfort in knowing that she was loved and that she was surrounded by people who wanted what was best for her.
Jazzy deserved gentleness, dignity, and love, and we hope she felt those things during her time with us. She will always hold a special place in our hearts and in the story of Iron Range Equine Sanctuary.
